Clinical Pilates Instructor
Vanessa is a physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor with clinical interests in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, persistent pain, women’s health, pelvic floor rehabilitation and supporting people to return to exercise and physical activity.
Vanessa has undertaken further training in mat and reformer Clinical Pilates, muscle activation, pregnancy and postnatal corrective exercise, pelvic floor rehabilitation and lymphatic drainage techniques. She has a particular interest in supporting women during pregnancy and following childbirth, including those experiencing pelvic floor concerns, urinary leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain or abdominal muscle separation.
Vanessa takes a collaborative and individualised approach to physiotherapy. She begins with a thorough assessment to understand each person’s symptoms, needs and goals, and to help them make sense of their pain or injury. Her aim is to help people improve their strength and physical function, build confidence in movement, and return to the activities that are important to them. Treatment may include education, hands-on physiotherapy, mobility work, muscle activation, corrective exercise, Clinical Pilates and progressive strengthening. Where appropriate, Vanessa may also incorporate lymphatic drainage techniques into an individualised treatment program.
Outside the clinic, Vanessa is an avid runner who also enjoys gym-based exercise and spending time outdoors. Her own involvement in running and exercise has contributed to her interest in rehabilitation and helping people return to physical activity following injury.
